Inside Practice Lab: why we’re starting with VR
We’re developing the first VR experience for the30steps Practice Lab. It starts with a familiar analytical challenge: entering a workplace, making sense of the available information and deciding what to ask next.
A workplace to explore
The application is built around Deskline, a fictional customer-support organisation. The scenario brings together workplace materials and three stakeholder characters, giving the learner a shared situation to investigate.
Our starting point is a question: how can we give analysts more opportunities to practise before they face an unfamiliar situation at work? VR gives us a format for placing that practice inside a simulated workplace.
Experience, Learn and Check
The application is organised around three modules. Experience centres on exploring the business scenario. Learn provides analytical concepts to return to. Check offers questions for checking understanding. Together, they connect a situation with the knowledge used to interpret it.
VR is the first format
Practice Lab is the part of the30steps dedicated to hands-on practice. We’re starting with VR, with room to explore other formats such as cards and board games later. The focus stays on the analytical skill being practised.
The VR application is still in development. We’ll share availability and participation details as they are confirmed.
